Looking at the foothills from the city center gives everyone a feeling of the wild beauty of this city. There is no other city in the Northwest that has such an opportunity within minutes from downtown, to allow its citizens to "escape" into the natural beauty of Boise without leaving the city itself. There is a time that comes in the lives of the community when natural beauty and community values trumps development.
Name: Page Sausman Date Posted: Sun Sep 10 17:59:29 2006 Message: Good Afternoon, I moved to Boise in November of 1976 at the age of 12. I lived in the Highlands for some time. I am now married and live in North Boise very near the Foothills. I am concerned with the displacement of natural habitat and recreation for dogs off-leash and their masters, in the area at the end of Harrison Hollow Street. If the ridges above the gorge are developed (which I hope they are NOT), then at least maintain the area of tht gorge much the same as the are behind Camel's Back Park as a animal habitat/human recreation park. There is a natural stand of trees, primarily Red Alder and Honey Locust in the gorge. I think this area should be maintained by the Bose Parks Department and enlarged, as there is much room for expansion of additional trees. I stronly believe that massive stones could be added to the area to provide for the fox and rabbits that live in the gorge. Hulls Gulch was preserved. Camel's Back was preserved. Without areas such as these: Boise will lack it's character for those who love the Foothills for what they are. Thank you for you attention. Regards, Page Sausman

You can find it at www.boisefoothillscoalition.org This is a great way for non CFNA members to get active in preserving Boise's open spaces for current and future generations ! Please spread the word.

Even on the worst of days, I can walk, hike or run through this area, and then once again, everything's ok. For anyone who visits this site and cares about its future, non-members and members alike, please fill out our CFNA survey, it's a great way for us to show the community why this area is so important to save for the future. Remember, it's July. September will be here before we know it.

I feel the area is as vital to future generations as Hulls Gulch, Camelback Park, and Military Reserve. It is beautiful and affords a healthy environment for citizens. I feel the foothills closest to the existing neighborhoods where there are so many trails should be preserved without building. I would be willing to donate funding to help that happen if necessary.

These committees are also working with the Boise Foothills Coalition which is represented by several Neighborhood Associations as well as individuals at large. I urge you to contact the CFNA if you would like to become more involved.

They did not mention anything about buying up older houses, but then they did not give us any idea of what they are planning to do yet. They said they have not made plans yet, but we all know that a smart business would not plop down millions of dollars to buy land without a plan.

As Chris indicated on the web site, we are currently in the process of getting the CFNA organized with the formation meeting set for April 27th at Hillside JHS at 7 pm. As a long time resident in our neighborhood, I like many of you have concerns about changes to our surrounding foothills. Forming the CFNA will give us a greater voice in dealing with the many issues that are sure to transpire in the coming months. We need to elect a team of energetic officers on April 27th who have good communication skills and the willingness to devote time and effort in forming a strong and viable CFNA. Thank you Chris for setting up the web site and forum! Forums offer all of us a chance to express our ideas and opinions!
